Spalted Beech Tables

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Spalted BeechThese spalted beech tables are unique made from timber felled locally over twelve years ago and left to dry naturally. The spalt is caused by a fungus, as the timber dries out the spores are killed off and leave the patterned black stripes in the timber. Our craftsmen have accentuated the natural beauty of this wood by hand sanding and applying 5 coats of oil and a further coat of Fiddes Wax. After each application the surface is cut back achieving the glasslike finish. The legs are haunched, mortice and tennoned complimenting the rustic charm of the timber really alowing the beauty of this wood to be appreciated.

The 2007 Pembrokeshire County Show was held on 14th , 15th and 16th August 2007, in its familiar surroundings at the County Showground , Withybush, Haverfordwest.

The Pembrokeshire County Show is the second largest agricultural Show in Wales , second only to the Royal Welsh.

With in excess of 104,000 people in attendance in 2006, the Show is now recognised as one the most impressive outdoor rural events in Wales.

Three days of action packed fun and entertainment will captivate country folk and city residents alike – a key success factor in a County that welcomes tens of thousands of tourists annually.

This year we teamed up with one of our many suppliers, Mick Jones Timber and a professional wood Turner Les Bryan from Picus Crafts.
