Channel 5’s Cowboy Builders feature Freefold from XL
XL’s Freefold product recently appeared on an episode of Channel 5’s Cowboy Builders. The episode was set in Watford and focused on a couple who had endured years of living in an incomplete home due to shoddy workmanship.
The couple wanted to be able to have a separate dining area from their living space but with the flexibility of opening up the area for entertaining; the Freefold provided the perfect solution and was the real centerpiece of the renovation.
The products for the show were supplied by The Door Gallery in St Albans.
Pewter is an ageless metal. It has a warm and lustrous quality, which we hand-finish to give a unique patina. We do not plate or lacquer our products so there is no coating to degrade. We use only the best-quality lead-free Pewter (min 92% tin), which is entirely safe to use anywhere in the home and does not rust. It is hard-wearing and easy to keep clean with a soft damp cloth.
Pewter has it’s origins in antiquity but today the alloy must comply with the European Standard EN6711. It is the fourth most precious metal in normal use after platinum, gold and silver. Tin mining has little or no effect on the environment so you can be assured that Pewter won’t cost the earth.
Royal Approval for Pewter
Pewter’s enduring appeal is a tribute to designers and manufacturers through the centuries. It survived the introduction of china and porcelain, and has more than held its own against silver and other precious metals. The beauty, versatility and practicality of pewter has sustained its popularity for two thousand years.

The show has run without a break since 1984 and has developed from a woodworking machinery exhibition (known as Woodmex) to cover the full range of technology and materials for industrial woodworking on a national and world stage.
W10 Working with Wood is your window on all aspects of industrial woodworking in the UK. Joinery and furniture manufacturers – in fact anyone working with or around wood will find materials, machinery and ideas to drive their business forward here.
Congratulations to Rhydian on winning the SkillBuild competition today in Coleg Sir Gar. He will now be competing in the Nationals to be held in North Wales later this year.
Just to say a HUGE thank you for coming out to Wiseman’s Bridge today and sorting out the fixings on my bench.
‘Re-writing the Pembrokeshire Promise’ certainly sums you and your company up. WHAT an amazing service to appear there within an hour following a phone call from my son….in London!
I do so wish I could find more helpful tradesmen like you all. Since my husband suddenly passed away (he did everything himself) I am really struggling to find any good service and help and the Pembrokeshire Promise shows its ugly face all the time.
Wish you did other things as well as joinery? Love your work but I don’t need anything at the moment in wood! (Soooooooo sorry about the bench!)
Once again, thank you so much. You and your colleagues were fantastic. Everyone was fantastic today actually! Even the Mr Whippy Ice Cream man gave me an ice cream as he’d heard what happened and how stressful a day I’d had!
